Colorectal Cancer

Types

Colon Cancer: originates in the colon and typically develops
from small, clumps of cells called polyps that form on the
inside of the colon.
Rectal Cancer: starts in the rectum, which is the last several
inches of the colon, and often develops from polyps.
Anal Cancer*: cancer that forms in the anal canal, through
which stool leaves your body.
Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GISTs)*: Arises from
specialized cells in the gastrointestinal tract wall.
*Technically not colorectal cancer.
